I awoke this morning to the news that equal marriage has been attained in IOWA!!! I've never been so proud to be able to call myself a one-time Iowan. What a crazy, up-and-down, wild week this has been, here and everywhere in the country. I am still reeling (in a fantastically good way) from Obama’s election. It’s so exciting to see him already start to transition into office, picking out his staff and cabinet and whatnot. Then, the other side of my political heart is just aching for California. As you may know, Iowa is a flooded mess. I've heard that over 80 of its 90-some counties have national disaster zones declared in them. Iowa City is still largely underwater. Back in Iowa City. It's good to be here, and to have the apartment to myself tonight. It's weird not to be able to get alone time at home. But it was a very good visit.
